brand-history

1908

In 1908, seven Matt family brothers discovered and used wood charcoal in Kuwait to improve the quality of the brackish water there.

1916

In 1916, the eldest of the Matt brothers gathered his brothers to form a professional charcoal-burning engineering team to manufacture wood charcoal on a large scale to help locals improve the quality of water coming out of their wells, as well as to develop ways to make charcoal packets that were easier to transport.

1920

In the late 1920s, the Matt brothers noticed that many foreigners were coming to Kuwait to dig wells, and occasionally they would see black sticky liquid being dug up, not knowing what it was, but they provided the diggers with special charcoal packets to improve the drinking water. The foreigners who used the charcoal packets would also take a few packets back with them when they returned home.

1932

In 1932, the Matt Brothers were approached by Middle Easterners, Egyptians, and Moroccans who had come to Kuwait to dig and buy special charcoal packs in bulk and asked to be transformed into certain shapes of devices, including a cylinder shape.

1938

In 1938, Kuwait announced the discovery of oilMatt Brothers realized that the black, viscous liquid that came out of the well was oil.

1940

From 1940 onwards, more foreigners came to Kuwait to dig wells, and the Matt brothers continued to expand the production of cartridge charcoal bags to facilitate the needs of the people who dug wells to improve their drinking water. At the same time, the brothers were looking for ways to improve the durability of the charcoal cartridges.

1946

In 1946, the youngest brother in Matt’s family was commissioned by his brothers to go to Houston, USA to learn craft manufacturing techniques through the recommendation of a well-digging mechanical engineer they knew from Houston, USA.

1950

In 1950, after four years of study and practice, Matt Jr. developed a simple, simple charcoal packet into a water filtration device with a metal casing wrapped around it and an inlet and outlet at each end, which was loved and heavily reused by ranchers in Houston at the time.

1951

In 1951, two of the Matt brothers were sent to Houston to assist Matt Jr. in developing the local sales market. At the same time, Matt Jr.’s invention of the metal mesh housing water filtration device was brought back to Kuwait, where the remaining brothers expanded the workshop to mass production and application.

1959

In 1959, three brothers in Houston worked tirelessly to not only iterate on the metal-housed water filtration unit, but also to establish the family’s first true water quality equipment manufacturing plant in the local town of Sugarland. By the end of the same year, four brothers from Kuwait had arrived in Houston, and the seven brothers were reunited in the United States and decided to start a modern manufacturing plant.

1960

In the 1960’s, the original old 7 brothers retired, and the second generation of Matt’s family was divided up into R&D, manufacturing, sales and overseas expansion, which were shipped from the Sugarland factory to 46 countries and territories around the world.
